Cranberry’s zoning law, which limits businesses that sell, rent or service vehicles to locating on major highways, was modified on June 4. That’s when Cranberry’s Board of Supervisors amended the Township’s zoning ordinance to allow businesses which deal in motor vehicles, but only as an accessory or secondary business, to operate on certain non-residential roads in the Township where commercial zoning applies. But first it has to secure a permit through the Conditional Use approval process. Home Depot then applied for approval under the zoning modification to designate ten parking spots for truck rentals at its store site on Dutilh Road. At its September 23 meeting, the Board accepted public comment and approved the company’s conditional use application to operate a vehicle business as an auxiliary to its store.
